Inmate is facing drug charges
Katrina Marie Vandling, 22, of 81 Jamestown Drive, Lehighton, is facing drug-related charges filed against her by Nesquehoning police, who said they were called to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in the borough after prison officials and sheriff's deputies found her to be in possession of the unlawful items.
Police said she was arraigned before District Justice Casimir Kosciolek on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a communications device by an inmate. She was retained in prison in lieu of $1,000 bail.
Police said Vandling was transported to the prison by sheriff's deputies on an outstanding bench warrant, after which time police found a syringe loaded with a clear liquid, two spoons and two cellphones in her purse. Police said the woman admitted to police she is a heroin addict and that the needle was intended to be used during the drug application. The spoons, police said, had a white resin on them that is consistent with heroin use.
Police said Vandling has several other addresses, including 475 Maxine Drive and Gypst Hill Apt. 302, both in Lansford, 157 W. Ridge St., Lansford, and 5477 Mauser St., Laurys Station.
