Tombstones found at Schuylkill site

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating the discovery of 13 "potential tombstones" at a site in East Norweigan Township, Schuylkill County.

Police said they were found within the patrol area of the barracks at 9:07 a.m. Dec. 28.

Out of the 13 stones, six of them have been transcribed as follows:

Robert D. Phelcer, 1875-1951; Frank 1866-1910; Loretta A. Buries, 1900-1945; Harry J. Johnson, 1887-1924; Mary A. Rote, 1888-1933; and William E. Gramley, 1886-1948.

Police said as the other stones are transcribed, the names will be produced.

They are asking anyone with information regarding the cemetery to which the tombstones belong, or anyone from whom they may have been stolen, contact them at (570) 593-2000.
