Published December 26. 2011 05:02PM

One person sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 10:32 a.m. Dec. 24 on Route 895 in East Penn Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said Gary L. Kryzmalski, 30, of Tamaqua, was hurt after a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier he was driving crashed and landed on its roof.

Police said he was westbound on Rt. 895 when he swerved the vehicle to avoid striking a deer in the area of Ziegler Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which traveled off the south side of the roadway into a soft dirt area, at which time it overturned. Police said the car continued in a southwestern direction for a short distance, at which time the roof of the vehicle struck a utility pole. After the impact with the pole, the vehicle struck a tree, coming to rest on the driver's side.

Police said the driver will be cited as a result of the accident.
