Owners and staff of the Basile Italian Delight Restaurant in Hometown surprised dozens of Schuylkill Carbon Marine Corps League (SCMCL) Toys For Tots and Tamaqua Salvation Army volunteers with a full course catered meal during their food and toy distribution held yesterday at the Tamaqua Salvation Army.

Basile's owners Vito and Paola Basile said they did this as a way to say thank you to all the volunteers that put so much time into helping the less fortunate during the holiday season.

"This is the first time anything like this has happened," said Salvation Army Major Margaret Johnson. "It felt different to be on the receiving end of a donation."

The free catered meal consisted of chicken marsala, sausage/peppers/onions, italian meatballs, pene with sauce, broccoli rabe, cheese ravioli, prima vera, panetoni, brushetta, garlic bread, salad and fruit salad.
