Bethlehem man charged with DUI

Pocono Mountain Regional Police arrested Jeffrey Schnettler, 30, of Bethlehem, on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after an incident at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 16 at the intersection of routes 940 and 611 in Mount Pocono.

Police said they were dispatched for a report of a driver drinking from an opened container of beer and driving in a careless manor. Upon responding, they stopped Schnettler and found him in an intoxicated state and also observing several opened bottles of beer inside the vehicle.

Police said he was arrested for DUI, restrictions on alcoholic beverages and driving while his license is suspended. Police said the man refused to take a blood test at the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

Police said they also learned Schnettler is wanted on bench warrants in Lehigh and Northampton counties.

The man was arraignes and committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, in lieu of $2,500 bail.
