Senior citizens

The Tamaqua Seniors met Dec. 8 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 87 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session.

Rose Vallee provided the invocation, entitled "A Christmas Blessing."

The meeting included the annual Christmas party, which was catered by Christy Joy. Table decorations were poinsettia plants, provided by Sank Griffiths. Santa joined the festivities and distributed gifts to each member in attendance.

Installation of officers will be held during the Dec. 15 meeting.

The group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the community center. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.

Every meeting is followed by social and pinochle games.

St. Peter's Union

The Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include installation of church board and cemetery board members.

Also on Sunday, the Sunday school program will be presented at 10:30 a.m.; the church board will meet at 11:45 a.m.; the Confirmation class will meet at 1 p.m.; Daisies, Brownies and Cub Scouts meet at 6 p.m.; youth group Christmas caroling begins at 5 p.m.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, bell choir rehearsal will be at 7 p.m.; Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., young adults meet at 5 p.m.

The choirs rehearse on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: junior choir at 7 p.m., senior choir at 7:30 p.m.

Christmas Eve services are scheduled for 2 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Calvary UM

The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the annual children's Christmas program will be presented at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday prayer and praise services are held at 7 p.m. in the church.

The Christmas Day worship service will be held at a special time, at 8:15 a.m.
