The Concourse Club of Palmerton collected clothing, toiletries, gift cards, toys, and various other items, as well as monetary donations, for the Domestic Violence Service Center (DVSC), located in Wilkes-Barre. The center serves Carbon and Luzerne Counties domestic violence victims. Right, Tammy Rodgers, DVSC volunteer outreach coordinator, came to Palmerton to pick up the donations from Marge Porambo, a Concourse Club member who spearheaded the project and stored the items until Tammy came to pick them up. The DVSC helps victims of domestic violence by providing emergency shelter, transitional housing, a 24-hour hot line, safety planning, supportive options counseling, assistance in filing for Protection from Abuse Orders, advocacy and numerous other services that are free and kept strictly confidential. Their mission is to work toward the elimination of domestic violence.
