Pregnant woman injured in Middleport accident

A female driver, who was five-months pregnant, sustained unknown injuries this morning after she drove over a large pocket of ice, hit a tree and crashed her SUV into the woods in Middleport.

Just after 8:15 a.m., emergency responders were called to the intersection of Washington Street and Mountain Road in Middleport for a call of a vehicle in the woods. The identity of the driver, the only one in the blue Chevrolet Trail Blazer, was unknown as of press time. She was transported to the hospital via ambulance.

Responding were firefighters from Tuscarora, Kaska, New Philadelphia and Middleport. Kaska fire police controlled traffic for the duration. State police are investigating
