Impersonation incident probed

Published December 13. 2011 05:01PM

An impersonation of a police officer incident is being investigated by Pocono Mountain Regional police.

Police said the incident occurred about 5:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Bill's Shop Rite Supermarket, in Mount Pocono. A female reported she was approached by a white male while she was seated in her vehicle.

He identified himself as a police officer and told the woman to get out of his vehicle. She refused and the male told her he was going to give her tickets. The female then drove away with the male following her in a pickup truck that had flashing blue lights on the roof.

The woman drove to the area of the Blockbuster store where the male attempted to stop her. She did not stop and continued on and left the area. She then notified police.

Police said the pickup in question is white in color with the blue lights on the roof. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call police at (570)-895-2400.

Police remind residents that if a vehicle is attempting to stop them and there is concern that the vehicle is not a police car, to put on their hazard lights and dial 9-1-1, drive slowly to a well lit and populated area and wait for help to arrive.
