A woman chasing her dog onto a Monroe County roadway was struck by one vehicle and rolled into another and was killed.

State police at Fern Ridge said the accident occurred about 5:09 p.m. on Sunday along SR209 near the American Legion building at Fairgrounds Road, in Chestnuthill Township.

Troopers said Emilia Reimel, of Gilbert, was chasing after her dog within the northbound lane.

Richard Haney, of Stroudsburg, operating a 2004 Chevrolet Venture, was northbound and observed the woman. He swerved to avoid her but struck her with the front driver's side. After impact the woman rolled into the southbound lane and into the driver's side of a 2010 Hyundai Tuscon driven by Edward Zarzycki, of Kunkletown.

Reimel was pronounced dead at the scene by deputy coroner Robert Allen. West End Fire Company volunteers assisted at the scene.
