Two injured in Mahoning crash

At least two persons were injured this morning in a two-vehicle crash along SR209 in Mahoning Township. The crash occurred at 8:30 a.m. involving a car and a sport utility vehicle atop the Mansion House Hill between Jim Thorpe and Lehighton. Two of the injured were a child and a female, believed to have been in the car. Both were treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and transported to a local hospital. The car came to rest in the north bound lane while the SUV came to rest facing north along the south berm. Traffic in both directions was stopped while the injured were treated and removed and the police conducted their investigation. Responding was the Lehighton Fire Department. Mahoning Township police, assisted by Jim Thorpe police, are investigating the incident.
