A Tamaqua pedestrian was struck by a car while crossing SR309 (Center Street) at the Five Points intersection (SR209 and SR309) Friday afternoon.

Warren Schreffer of Tamaqua, who turned 74 today, was taken by Lansford Ambulance to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale, suffering from facial and other unknown injuries.

He was struck by a silver 2007 Nissan sedan driven by Angelak Hysony of Orwigsburg.

Southbound traffic in Tamaqua was backed up to the Hometown Hill as emergency personnel responded. Tamaqua firefighters and Lehighton Ambulance also responded.

Officer Matt Houser is investigating the incident and no charges have been filed.
