A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 7:08 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, along SR895 (Rock Road), in Washington Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Kirk E. Wesner, 21, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2001 Nissan Sentra westbound and descending a slight hill when he came upon some standing water on the road. Wesner traveled through the water without slowing down. His vehicle then spun counter-clockwise causing him to lose control.

The vehicle traveled across the center line and into the oncoming lane and then onto the berm where it traveled for 18 feet before striking a fence at 670 Rock Road. After impact with the fence the car spun again and made a second impact about 20 feet from the first, with the driver's side rear. The property owner was identified as Robert J. Papp, of Pine Grove.

Wesner was not injured. Troopers said he will be cited for motor vehicle code violations.

Troopers also reported on a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 7:41 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, along SR501 in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Debra A. Graeff, 38, of Pine Grove, was driving a 1997 Subaru Outback northbound when he lost control on the wet roadway. The car traveled through the north and southbound lanes and onto the berm where it struck an embankment.

After impact the car continued north and struck several small trees, became airborne, and struck several large trees before coming to rest along the embankment against a large tree on its roof.

Graeff sustained a minor injury in the crash and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment. Graeff was cited for traveling too fast for conditions, troopers said.
