A number of holiday activities yesterday kicked off Tamaqua's four-day Spirit of Christmas Festival. Some of yesterday's events consisted of a tree trimming charity gathering at the Tamaqua Art Gallery, Salvation Army handbell tour and Historical Candlelit Tour. Pictured is Frank Fabrizio, Brockton, putting the final touches on the Depot Square Park fountain in preparation for this today's Santa and Mrs. Claus Parade and Depot Park and Fountain Lighting event, which starts at 6:30 p.m. The dancing lights and sound show will grace the park throughout the holiday season. Following the parade and park lighting, families are encouraged to stop by the art gallery, 114 W. Broad St., for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, as well as to vote for the best of 12 newly decorated Christmas trees on display inside the gallery.
