Santa coming to Lansford Sat.

Published December 01. 2011 05:01PM

Lansford Alive aims to revive the Christmas spirit of a "Brights" yesteryear beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday with the arrival of Santa Claus.

"Years ago, when Bright's department store was open in Lansford, the arrival of Santa and a new car drawing was a major town event that is still fondly remembered. We're trying to recapture that excitement," said Panther Valley Mini Mall owner and Lansford Alive officer David Benevy.

"This year, to recapture that feeling, Lansford Alive has organized a Christmas promotion featuring a $1,000 cash giveaway. On Saturday, December 3 at 10 a.m., Santa will arrive at the Panther Valley Mini Mall, 28 West Ridge Street, (formerly Bright's) by fire truck, ascend to the roof on its ladder and come down into the Mini Mall to greet the children. Pictures with Santa will be taken, and will be available free of charge at the Mini Mall the following Tuesday. The parents of every child will receive a ticket for the $1,000 cash giveaway," he said.

Starting Dec. 3, until noon on Dec. 17, tickets for the drawing will be available at 18 Lansford merchants.

No purchase is necessary, limit of one ticket per day per person per merchant. Merchants will be able to give away larger numbers of tickets with purchases.

The drawing will be held on Ridge Street, in front of the Mini Mall, at 1 p.m. Saturday Dec. 17. Entertainment will start at noon. Winners must be present to win.
