A Tamaqua area man was picked up by Tamaqua Police Monday night after a warrant was issued for his arrest on felony theft charges.

Richard G. Wolfe, 22, of 232 Millhead Rd., Tamaqua, was picked up Monday evening, then video arraigned before duty District Judge Carol Pankake, Frackville, on charges of access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

The charges were filed by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods after an investigation into a reported debit card fraud. Woods was contacted Aug. 16 by Kathie Ann Homyak, who said there was money missing from her bank account and she suspected her boyfriend, Wolfe. After checking ATM records, it was determined that Wolfe made three withdrawals from Homyak's account, $200 at 12:47 p.m. Aug. 12, $100 at 12:05 a.m. Aug. 13 and $200 at 12:26 a.m. Aug. 13. In addition to the $500, there were also transaction fees totalling $9. All of the transactions were done at the Sovereign Bank ATM at 408 E. Broad St.

Pankake set bail at $10,000 straight cash.

Wolfe also faces charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after allegedly taking advantage of a woman who offered him a place to sleep.

Lisa Dotter of 218 Orwigsburg St., Tamaqua, called police concerning a missing necklace and bracelet. The items were taken sometime between Aug. 6 and Aug. 10, when she was providing Wolfe with a place to stay.

The jewelry was located Aug. 10 at a pawn shop in Lehighton. According to transaction records, Wolfe pawned the items on Aug. 7, using his driver's license as identification.
