The several inches of rain dumped on the area this weekend by Hurricane Irene has forced the closure of Beltzville Lake beach and boat launches.

The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced the closures, due to high water levels, late Monday. Swimming and boating are prohibited until further notice.
