State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating several crashes on Schuylkill County roadways over the past weekend.

A crash occurred about 5:24 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, at the intersection of Seltzer and Bullshead roads in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Mary C. Pothering, 81, of Minersville, was traveling northbound on Bullshead operating a 2011 Nissan Altima while Zachary L. Dixon, 19, of Pottsville, was westbound on Seltzer driving a 2002 Acura RSX.

Troopers said Pothering failed to stop for a stop sign and entered the intersection where her vehicle and Dixon's collided.

Pothering and her passenger, Elizabeth M. Ryndock, 87, of Minersville, were flown by Lifeflight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment of what troopers said were moderate injuries. Dixon and his passenger, Paul J. Schriner Jr., 18, of Minersville, were not injured. Troopers cited Pothering for the stop sign violation.

Troopers investigated another crash about 3 a.m. on Friday along S. Reiner St., in Porter Township. Troopers said Sara A. Hoy, 21, of Tower City, was driving a 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound when, for unknown reasons, she backed up and struck a parked 2005 Chevrolet Silverado truck.

After impact Hoy failed to supply information as required by law. She was cited for hit and run of an unattended vehicle, troopers said.

Troopers investigated a two vehicle crash about 5:24 p.m. Friday along SR61 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said David B. Elrod, 21, of Pottsville, and Shirley A. Paul, 73, of Boyertown, were both southbound. Troopers said Paul stopped in the left hand when her 2005 Subaru Legacy was struck in the rear by Elrod's 2000 Ford Focus.

Paul was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville. Her passenger, Sabrina Paul, 107, was not injured, as was Elrod.

Troopers cited Elrod for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.

Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash about 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, along Pheasant Run Road, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Robert F. McDonald, 50, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2002 Lincoln LS westbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. The front of the car struck the deer.

McDonald was not injured.
