DUI arrests by Pocono police
Three driving under the influence (DUI) arrests were reported by Pocono Mountain Regional police this week.
On Monday, Aug. 22, about 11:47 p.m. officers attempted a traffic stop along SR940 at SR314 for an equipment violation and littering. The driver failed to stop and continued west on 940 for nine-tenths of a mile before pulling over in the parking lot of Joe's Kwik Mart in Pocono Summit, Tobyhanna Township.
The driver was identified as Richard Lugo, 58, of Long Pond. He was found to be under the influence and a open container of alcohol was observed on the back seat. Lugo failed field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a blood test. He will be charged with DUI, police said.
On Wednesday, Aug. 24, about 2:56 a.m. police stopped a vehicle also at Joe's Kwik Mart, for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Clair McEllhenney, 58, of Cresco. McEllhenney was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests.
He was transported to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), in East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
At 1:33 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, officers conducted a traffic stop on SR940 at Oak St., in Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh Township. The driver was identified as Kathleen Kleibert, 53, of Mt. Pocono. She was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. She was then taken to PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
