The newly forming Tamaqua Area Skate and Willing Park Association, TASWPA, is seeking new members or volunteers for its association.
Justin Startzel, president, stated "Our goal is to rejuvinate the park, making it an even more pleasant place for family and youth to visit and enjoy."
The association, comprised primarily of young adults, and other local volunteers have already cleaned the park, pulled weeds, painted skate equipment, and held a bake sale. They are also planning on holding a skate show and music event at the park.
The association, with support of the Tamaqua Community Partnership, is holding its first annual DeZire Nightlife Fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 23 from 7 to 11 p.m. The all age event will be held at the Tamaqua skate park located behind Boyer's Market. In addition to four local stunt bikers showing off their talents, there will also be a juggler and food for sale. There will also be free glow products given away to the first people in attendance.
Startzel stated, "This fundraiser is to get the association established and to begin revamping the skate and Willing Park. For more information, contact Startzel on Facebook, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (570) 668-1234.
