Autopsy results released in death of Slatington man

A Slatington man, who was found dead in the middle of SR873 in Washington Township early Saturday morning, died of multiple blunt force trauma according to an autopsy report released by Lehigh County Coroner Scott M. Grim.

Bryan Kanu Mayes, 31, of 8135 SR873, also died of stab wounds to the body, Grim stated in a press release.

Mayes was found dead about 1:10 a.m. When police arrived they found a man kneeling over Mayes' body. He was identified as Robert Charles Sloss, 26, of Pottstown, Montgomery County.

Sloss has been charged with criminal homicide in the death of Mayes, state police at Bethlehem said. Sloss is currently in the Lehigh County prison.

The police report indicated that Sloss was observed throwing a knife to the ground as officers approached him. Also, it was published that Sloss has admitted to killing Mayes.

Police have not released any information concerning a motive for the killing. The investigation is continuing, troopers said.
