Rear-end type crash in Monroe

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a rear-end type crash on Friday, Aug. 19, about 6:24 p.m. along SR115 at Meixell Valley Road, in Ross Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Kimberly A. Virga, 26, of Wind Gap, was northbound and stopped to make a left turn onto Meixell Valley Road when his 2005 Chevrolet Equinox was struck in the rear by a 2004 Ford Explorer driven by Brennen E. Wede, 18, of Saylorsburg.

Upon impact the Explorer went off the road and collided into a utility pole on the south side.

Virga and her passenger, Delaney S. Virga, 100, of Wind Gap, were taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Wede was not injured.

Troopers cited Wede for following too closely.
