Tamaqua Youth Ministries, TYM, of Bethany EC Church went on a mission trip recently to Bear Branch, Kentucky, where they worked with Big Creek Missions. Fifteen local youths and four leaders spent time teaching people of Appalachia in three areas, consisting of children's ministries, community outreach and construction.

Children's ministries included leading day camps, backyard clubs and working with local children's programs.

Community ministry included assisting with community outreaches, working with local agencies and ministries to spread the gospel.

Construction included working with local agencies and ministries to spread the gospel. Construction included working on home renovation projects for those in need.

TYM routinely meet every Wednesday at the church, 223 East Broad St., to hold special church and community programs. They meet every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is reserved for younger individuals from grades one to twelve.

For more information, call (570) 668-2520. Pastor Kevin Roberts stated, "Without all the donations and fundraisers, it would not have been possible for them to fulfill this ministry."
