Tamaqua police have filed charges against Jaime B. Paisley, 26, of 74 Fawn Lane, Tamaqua, following a vehicle stop on Aug. 5.

Officers were on patrol at 1:50 a.m. when they observed a red Audi sedan traveling south on North Railroad Street. The passenger side rear light on the Audi was inoperative.

The car then drifted to the right side and the operator swerved to avoid striking the curb. A vehicle stop was made in the area of 18 N. Railroad St. and the driver identified as Paisley. She was visibly intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test. A portable breath test indicated a blood-alcohol content of .156 percent, almost twice the legal limit of .08.

Paisley was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, careless driving and failure to have the required lights.
