Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hlavaty of Lehighton have announced the engagement of their daughter Nicole to Conor Sedam, son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Sedam of Novi, Mich.

The bride-to-be is a 2000 graduate of Lehighton Area High School. She attended Penn State University, where she earned a degree in kinesiology. She has a master's degree in occupational therapy from Thomas Jefferson University.She is employed as an allied health manager at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Miami University in Ohio, where he earned a degree in organizational leadership. He is employed as a hockey director in Wilmette, Ill.Conor surprised Nikki at the Mackinac Island Airport in northern Michigan, first by proposing, and again shortly after, when his father and mother arrived in his plane, carrying Nikki's parents.A 2012 wedding is planned.
