Karl A. Otto, 79, of 248 E. Moser St., Coaldale, pleaded guilty to charges of indecent assault of a person under 13 years of age, indecent exposure and endangering welfare of a child and was sentenced Tuesday by Judge John E. Domalakes in Schuylkill County court to serve18 to 36 months in a state correctional institution. He received credit for serving 35 months and two days in the county prison and a state prison in Greensburg.

However, since he served his minimum sentence he was released on parole.

Other special conditions imposed by the court were that he must serve 46 months in the Intensive sex offenders programs while on probation, pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account and court costs, must immedately register his current address and the address he will be residing when released on probation with the state police under Megan's Law

Otto originally was found guilty by a jury in March 2009 of charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent exposure and indecent assault and was sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin to serve 20 to 60 years in prison. But the verdict was appealed by Otto and Baldwin ruled in his favor on grounds he received ineffective assistance of counsel and the verdict was overturned. Otto then entered a guilty plea last February to the charges on which he was sentenced by Domalakes.
