More than 540 Ryan Township PPL customers were without power this morning when a female driver snapped a utility pole after losing control of her white Dodge Stratus in the 1100 block of Barnesville Drive, SR54. Reportedly, the driver, from Mahanoy City, refused medical treatment as she only suffered airbag burns on her arms, and was taken home via Ryan Township ambulance. Responding in addition to state police at Frackville and Rush Township Police were Ryan, Hometown and Delano fire companies. Hometown Fire Police detoured traffic through the area and stopped larger vehicles from passing under the low wires, which were hanging across the road. PPL also responded to restore power and to perform repairs to the pole and lines. No serious injuries were reported.
