2 lifeflighted after head-on collision in West Penn Twp.

Two people were lifeflighted following a head-on collision involving a red Ford Ranger and light brown Ford Explorer that occurred yesterday after 1 p.m. at the SR443 and SR309 intersection in West Penn Township. Two helicopters from Pennstar and Medivac landed in a nearby field as emergency personnel carefully removed the individuals from the vehicles.

Responding in addition to West Penn Police, were West Penn Fire Company and ambulances from Lehighton and Penn Mahoning. Fire police detoured traffic around the intersection for the duration.

The names and current conditions of the individuals in the vehicles were not available by West Penn Police as of press time this morning.
