Hundreds of bargain hunters took to the streets and sidewalks of Tamaqua on Saturday as they searched for good deals as part of the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce's 12th annual Tamaqua Community-wide Sidewalk and Community Yard Sale.
The sidewalk sale has been a tradition in Tamaqua for many years, held on the first Saturday of August. What makes the event unique has been the addition of private residences to the festivities via the community yard sale.
The bargains didn't end there, as shoppers got the added bonus of searching the community for sales that residents have set up at their home yards and garages.
Linda Yulanavage, exuctive director, Chamber of Commerce, said, "This combination has proven to create a great deal of traffic throughout the downtown and benefits the entire community."
