In an effort to help fire companies and emergency response organizations of the 122nd Legislative District secure additional grant funding, State Rep. Doyle Heffley, in partnership with State Fire Commissioner Ed Mann, a Fire Company and Emergency Responder Grant Seminar instructor, is hosting a seminar to help local fire companies and emergency responders learn how to write grants.

The program will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the Lehighton Annex building auditorium, 110 N. Third St., Lehighton.

Commissioner Mann will discuss state and federal grant and loan programs, as well as cost-saving programs which include: the Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program, Community Revitalization Program, Volunteer Loan Assistance Program, COSTARS, and the Federal Assistance to Fire Act Grant.

Commissioner Mann will also advise attendees on best-practices related to using the resources that may be available to your organization. Not only will he provide the information needed to get started, he will also give tips and best-practices to make the most of the monies available.

Any volunteer fire companies that wish to attend may send up to three people. For additional information or to make reservations, call State Rep's Heffley's office at 570-722-8700.
