Lehighton police are investigating a home invasion which occurred early this morning.

Police state two black males entered a home at 442 Cypress St. just after 5 a.m. One of the two was reported to be armed with a handgun.

Two of the residents were on the first floor of the home - a male who was asleep and a female who encountered the intruders.

County records indicate the house is listed to a Robert Rehrig.

Reportedly the armed male placed a pillow over the face of the female as the second suspect removed a 52-inch wide screen television and a large amount of cash.

Within minutes of the report Lehighton Police Officer Matt Arner and a Mahoning Township police unit were on scene. They were then assisted by several units from throughout Carbon County.

The two robbers were last seen carrying the wide screen TV east on Cypress street.

A search of the entire area of Lehighton failed to find the two armed men.
