A retail theft at the Hometown Commons Walmart, in Rush Township, turned into a much bigger headache for suspect Ruben Ortiz, of Reading, on Monday.

Ortiz, 36, was being questioned by township police following the 6:58 p.m. incident when officers discovered heroin, cocaine and marijuana, as well as several thousand dollars in cash, in his possession.He was taken into custody and then arraigned before duty District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah, on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (three counts), possession of drug parahernalia, retail theft and receiving stolen property.Bail was set at $50,000 cash. Unable to post that amount, Ortiz was lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville.
