Literacy Night hosted by Panther Valley High School

Published April 27. 2011 05:00PM

On April 28 the Panther Valley High School will host the first annual PVHS Library Literacy Night.

Literacy Night will showcase new books and equipment purchased through the Improving Literacy through School Libraries Grant.

Panther Valley was one of only 50 recipients from the 470 applications submitted nationwide for this competitive grant. It received $313,562 for its K-12 libraries.

The event will be held in conjunction with the annual Arts Fest. Parents and students will be invited to enjoy works of art that will be displayed throughout the building and displays in the library. To add to the festive atmosphere, the Panther Valley Jazz Band will perform in the main lobby/corridor.

Individual and groups of students are invited to read poetry, sing and perform as part of a literacy/arts coffee house.

Some light refreshments will be served.

The scheduled hours for the evening will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
