A Monroe County woman was jailed after she attempted to flee police while driving drunk,

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers observed a vehicle swerving along SR196 traveling northbound in the southbond lane about 2:59 a.m. on Saturday, April 23. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver fled and began to travel at a high rate of speed.Officers pursued the vehicle along 196 until the driver turned into the Pocono Farms East community in Coolbaugh Township. Officers deployed stop sticks which stopped the vehicle on 196 north of Kings Way.The driver was identified as Angela Cottone, 26, of Tobyhanna. She was found to be under the influence and transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.She was placed under arrest for felony fleeing and eluding charges and also driving under the influence (DUI) and numerous motor vehicle code violations. She was lodged in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.Police noted the pursuit lasted for 18 minutes but no one was injured.
