A fast moving fire destroyed a house trailer in the Packerton section of Mahoning Township. The fire was first reported just before 2 p.m. Wednesday when flames and heavy smoke were spotted rolling from the structure near the intersection of Pine and Douglas streets. When firefighters from five Carbon County communities arrived on scene the trailer was fully involved. Lehighton paramedics treated one elderly male at the scene. The fire was brought under control in about an hour. Mahoning Township police said the trailer's owner, Gene O'Brien, had tried to extinguish the blaze. O'Brien had rented the trailer to Michael Kelowitz, 21. Gnaden Huetten Hospital, Lehighton, on Thursday morning had no record of either man having been admitted or treated.
