Flooding delays spring planting

The recent and almost daily-occurring torrential rains have transformed farm fields into lakes, making it impossible for local farmers to get their equipment into the fields to start their yearly planting. Many of the fields, such as this one at the intersection of Lauchnor Road and SR895 in East Penn Township, have well over a foot of water atop the soil, some playing host to flocks of geese. These fields, which would have been plowed and tilled, are nowhere ready for the farmer's tractors and equipment.
