Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kester of Tamaqua celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 24.

They were married in the former St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, now St. John United Church of Christ, Tamaqua, by the Rev. Arthur Knoble.

Mrs. Kester is the former Miriam Weston, daughter of the late Mayor William J. and Doris Weston. Her husband is the son of the late Edward and Elva Mae Kester.

The couple has three children: Vaal of New Ringgold and his wife, Janet; Aimee, wife of Mike Caputo of Weatherly; and Terri, wife of Ed Kane of Still Creek.

They also have five grandchildren: Chris Schaefer of Tamaqua, Eric Schaefer of Summit Hill, Meredith Kester of Whitehall, Ashley Kane and Amanda Kane, both of Harrisburg; and a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Schaefer of Tamaqua.

In honor of the occasion, a family gathering was held at the home of their daughter, Aimee, in Weatherly.
