Defendants are no shows, cases bound over for trial
Several defendants scheduled for preliminary hearings before District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, this week failed to appear before the court. All had their cases bound over for trial in the Schuylkill County Courts and the arresting officers have been given the opportunity to file for warrants for their arrests.
Edward T. Frey, 40, of 237 W. Blaine St., McAdoo, didn't appear for his hearing on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without the required headlights, disobeying a traffic control device and driving an unregistered vehicle. The charges were filed by McAdoo Patrolman Joseph David following a Dec. 6, 2010 incident.
Joshua R. Huegel, 29, of 17 Richard St., Pottsville, skipped out on his hearing on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving stemming from a Feb. 12 incident. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Matt Bynon.
Douglas J. Ahner, 29, of 710 Club Rd., Palmerton, didn't show for his hearing on charges of providing false identification to law enforcement, driving with a suspended/revoked operator's license and driving without rear lights. the charges were filed by West Penn Township Patrolman Dale Osenbach following a Dec. 18, 2010 incident.
Eileen G. McGee, 53, of 39 Lauchnor Grove Rd., Andreas, also failed to appear in court. She was charged with passing a bad check by Tamaqua Patrolman Michael Hobbs.
Sher Afsar Khan, 63, of 7793 Ramble Bush Rd., Stroudsburg, didn't appear for his hearing on bad check charges. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Michael Hobbs.
Matthew A. Derr, 33, of 86 W. Miner St., Coaldale, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was cited Aug. 31, 2010 by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Rodgers.
Derr was released on his own recognizance.
Dmitriy Partin, 21, of 369 Grim Rd., Kutztown, waived a hearing on charges filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell. The charges stem from a July 30, 2010 incident and include driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and careless driving.
Bail was set at $25,000 unsecured.
Jeanne T. Thorpe, 38, of 119 W. Ridge St., Nesquehoning, appeared on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and forgery stemming from a March 16 incident. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Matt Bynon.
She was released after posting ten percent of the imposed $15,000 bail.
Derek A. Shellhamer, 24, of 307 Arlington St., Tamaqua, waived his hearing on charges filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Rodgers. The charges include possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. They stem from a Feb. 24 incident.
He was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
Brent F. Kunkel, 61, of 355 W. Water St., Lansford, waived a hearing on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and public drunkenness. The charges were filed by Coaldale Patrolman Jeremy Talanca following a Dec. 30, 2010 incident.
Kunkel was released on his own recognizance.
Jonathon R. Dombrowski, 23, of 538 W. Pine St., Mahanoy City, waived a hearing on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, fied by Rush Township Police Sgt. Duane Frederick. The charge stems from a Jan. 12 incident.
Dombrowski was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
