Announcement has been made of the engagement of Amanda Lyn Kunkel, daughter of Robert and Kimberly Kunkel, Schnecksville, and Cheryl Kunkel, Tamaqua, to Matthew Kistler, son of Raymond and Teresa Kistler of West Penn Township.

The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and a 2009 graduate of Wilkes University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education, with a minor in reading.She also earned certifications in early childhood education and English language learning.She is currently working toward a master's degree in educational strategies and development and is employed by the Abington Heights School District as a first-grade teacher.Her fiance is a 2005 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School. Currently serving in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, he is pursuing a degree in computer science.The couple is planning a July 2011 wedding.
