Schuylkill driver facing DUI charge
A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one- vehicle crash that occurred about 12:13 a.m. on Monday, April 4. It was one of two DUI arrests reported in Schuylkill County.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Carrie Denning, 20, of Auburn, was driving a 1995 Volkswagen Golf northbound on Deerview Drive, between Summer Hill Road and SR895, in South Manheim Township, when she lost control. The car went onto the berm and struck a tree and rocks, continuing into a ditch. The car came to rest on top of the rocks and trees in the ditch facing north.
Troopers said Denning then fled the scene but was later located at her residence. She was found to be under the influence and placed under arrest. She was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood test.
Charges will be filed, troopers said.
Troopers said Jeremy Shechtman, 29, of Suedberg Rd., Pine Grove, was stopped about 9:18 a.m. on Sunday, April 3, along Suedberg Road at Roadview Lane, in Pine Grove Township, after being observed driving erratically.
He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood test.
The DUI charge is pending the test results, troopers said.
