Another zoning hearing slated for Riverwalck Saloon

The fate of Riverwalck Saloon, 8 Centre St., Parryville, (Route 248) will once again will be in the hands of the Parryville Zoning Hearing Board.

Atty. Michael Greek said on Tuesday night during a regular meeting of Parryville Council that Riverwalck Saloon owner Mark Stemler has appealed the decision of Parryville Zoning Officer Dick Fedor regarding his decision on the application of zoning permits and that because of that appeal Parryville Zoning Hearing Board will be asked to make a decision.

Greek said that Parryville Council is not taking any side in the matter at this time.

"We are neither for or against the decision to hold a zoning hearing meeting," said Greek. "I am merely stating that since we intervened by giving Riverwalck Saloon owner a deadline, we are announcing the decision that a zoning hearing will be scheduled as soon as we can set up a location and a date."

Greek said that he does not want to set up a hearing in the borough office and then have to move it because of lack of space. He questioned whether the fire company or a local church would open their doors to host the proceedings.

The issue of whether Riverwalck Saloon is complying with local regulations has been an ongoing discussion at Parryville Council meetings for the past year.

The zoning officer and Stemler have a difference of opinion on whether Riverwalck Saloon complies with local zoning regulations.
