The Panther Valley Elementary School third graders received 144 dictionaries from Francis X. Koomar and William P. Gardiner of Nesquehoning. Accepting the dictionaires on behalf of their class are Joshua Robin, Blake Morgans, Andrew Surotchak, Kaylee Bukowski, Lindsie Borger, Alena Vogt, and Braxton Whitaker. Behind them are William Gardiner, presenter and Bill Lombardo, PVES principal. Missing from picture is the other presenter, Francis X. Kommar. This is the ninth year that Koomar and Gardiner have been participating in the "Dictionary Project". Each third grader in the Panther Valley Elementary School will put their names on the inside cover as it is their personal dictionary to keep. The goal of the Dictionary Project is to improve the reading ability and comprehension of all children everywhere. Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn. Seven dictionaries were given to Our Lady of the Angels Academy in Lansford.
