The Tamaqua Rotary Club spent one of its weekly morning meetings at the St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital learning about all the recent improvements and community benefits provided by the hospital.
The Rotary Club also provided a donation to help the St Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale raise funds for a new digital health scale to replace its standard personal weight scale located in the oncology department.
A tour of the hospital's new critical care unit, cardiopulmonary, and day room was also given to the Rotary Club by Micah Gursky, Director of Development, St Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital. Gursky pointed out that every donation, no matter what size, is used to help patients receive the best care St Luke's can provide.
Their guest speaker during the meeting was retired 24-year veteran, Tamaqua graduate, and Navy Commander Tony Konecny, who served as a Commander in the submarine force and nuclear power program.
