Jim Thorpe church sets fall festival

Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 189 Church Road, Penn Forest Township, Jim Thorpe, will hold its first Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 23 from noon to 5 p.m. All festival proceeds will benefit Outreach Ministry to the community and beyond.

The Fall Festival will be fun for all ages. There will be games, face painting, pumpkin painting/carving, moon bounce, and a hay maze.

Hot food and a variety of hot and cold beverages will be available during the entire event. In addition, there will be homemade breads, baked goods, soups, chili, and home canned items available to purchase along with cider and apples

Judging for the "Best Pie on the Mountain" contest will take place at 2 p.m. Enter your favorite pie. Any and all varieties are welcome.

Judging for the "Scarecrow Decorating" Contest will take place at 4 p.m. Be creative! Bring your own ready-made scarecrow or make one at the festival.

Crafts and flea market will be available. Crafters of all genres are welcome. Call (570) 722-1712 or (570) 325-5488 for information. Fall decorating items will also be on hand, including corn stalks, mums, and pumpkins.
