Slatington to be without borough manager 3 months

Published September 16. 2010 05:00PM

Slatington will be without a borough manager for the next three months.

The borough will advertise to fill the vacant post, and will accept applications until Dec. 8.

The position opened up after former borough Manager Steve Salvesen stepped down from the position on Sept. 8.

Appointed to the post Nov. 24 at a salary of $60,000, Salvesen said he left the position so he could retire.

Salvesen was Slatington's third borough manager within the past two-and-a-half years. He succeeded Herb Pfeiffer, who was fired on a 6-0 vote by council at a workshop session in May of 2009.

Hired Sept. 15, 2008, Pfeiffer replaced John Kasten, who resigned from the position in March of 2008.

In June, Pfeiffer filed a federal lawsuit against borough officials, one year after he was terminated from the position.
