Jim Thorpe church to hold old-fashioned picnic

Immaculate Conception Church, Jim Thorpe, will hold its annual old-fashioned picnic on Sunday, Sept. 19, at Memorial Park, Jim Thorpe.

The festivities will get underway at 11:30 a.m. and continue through 6 p.m.

The entertainment schedule includes Danny Farole, who will play the guitar and accordian and sing between noon and 2 p.m.; the Kerry Irish Dancers, from 2-2:30 p.m.; and disc jockey Monroe Berger, who will provide music for dancing and listening pleasure from 2:30 until the picnic closes.

An old-fashioned cakewalk will be held, offering picnic-goers the opportunity to win delicacies and other prizes. Face painting and a fish pond for children will also be offered.

Throughout the afternoon, a number of picnic foods will be available, including hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, haluski, pierogies, soups, hamburger barbecue, chili, chicken fingers and French fries. A dessert table will feature pie and ice cream.

The public is invited to join parishioners for the afternoon of festivities.
