Playground upkeep report is sought

Published September 10. 2010 05:00PM

At Walnutport's regular meeting of council Thursday evening council asked Secretary Annette Lacko to send a letter to the Walnutport Playground Association (WPA) asking them to send representatives to next month's workshop meeting regarding the upkeep and repair of the baseball field.

At last week's workshop meeting Bob Treskot, of WPA, called the backstop of the main field a safety hazard.

In other business, council moved to have Solicitor Michael Corriere apply a municipal lean to 16 Lincoln Ave., and Council President Bill Turk reminded everyone that Walnutport's trick-or-treat night will be held Oct. 27 and that the Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade will be held Oct. 30.

Jeffry Mouer, of First Regional Compost Authority (FRCA), talked to council about Walnutport possibly joining the authority. FRCA collects yard waste and makes it into mulch and compost, which is then free to the residents of the townships and boroughs that are involved with the authority.

"I would like to see the northwest corner of Northampton County hop in on this program," Mouer said.
