Animal team to educate public on disaster preparedness

Published September 07. 2010 05:00PM

The Schuylkill County Animal Response Team (SCART) will host a Pet Disaster preparedness Clinic on Sept. 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Tractor Supply Store in St. Clair.

Information will be provided on how to better prepare your pet for a natural or man made disaster. What to keep in an emergency kit, when to evacuate and when not to evacuate and pet first aid are just some of the topics that will be discussed.

Also, for a donation, pet owners may get a "pet passport" to keep all all of their pet's pertinent information, a full color photo and a personalized collar identification tag.

Emergency shelter equipment will be on display in order to show the readiness of the team in dealing with a disaster on a county level.

Tractor Supply is located next to the St. Clair Wal-Mart. Pets are welcome but must be leashed.

For more information concerning the clinic, or tSCART, send an email to coordinator Jay Woodford at or call 570-449-1931.
