Published October 30. 2010 09:00AM

The Tamaqua Lions Club, in conjunction with Lions International, invites any senior resident of the Tamaqua Area to participate in a smoke detector battery replacement program, sponsored by the Tamaqua Lions.

Interested individuals must be 65 or older, own their own home and have at least one smoke detector installed in their home presently.

A member of the Tamaqua Lions will come to the home and install up to two brand new batteries, additional battery replacements will be made for up to five additional smoke detectors, but the homeowner must supply the additional batteries.

All battery requests are anticipated to be fulfilled before the change of daylight savings time, which is the suggested time of year to replace smoke detector batteries.

Please call (570) 668-1234 and leave your name, contact phone number and address. A Tamaqua Lion will contact you about scheduling a time and date for the battery replacement.
