Two cars collide in West Penn Township

Two drivers escaped serious injury Thursday evening when involved in a crash at the intersection of route 309 and 443 in the village of South Tamaqua, West Penn Township. The crash occurred near 6 p.m. According to West Penn police a car operated by a male was traveling south on state route 309 through the intersection. A late model Jeep operated by a female was traveling north and attempting to make a left turn onto state route 443 west. In doing so, the female pulled into the path of the south bound car with the two colliding in the south bound lanes. The car came to rest in the south bound lane while the Jeep came to rest on the concrete island facing west. Responding was the West Penn Fire Company No. 1. West Penn Township police are investigating the incident.
